A forest of temporary engagement, of silhouetted sticks, like birthday candles alight in the night sky.
Live drawing gives me a feeling of connection at the moment. I was drawing a wedding in the most beautiful redwood grove the weekend before. What if those trees went away? We were living through devastating California fires—again.
This was my first group show, and I didn’t have new work yet, so what about the trees? An audience of trees is what came to mind in reaction to other works in the galleries. Materials: spray chalk, pastels, and tape.
